One of the things that I’ve come to learn lately is that working your entire life away in order to make money for someone else isn’t for me. I’m not bashing those that do, some people are completely ok with that and I get it. With the amount of time that I put into my regular 9-5, I could be putting that into this and trying to make it bigger than what it is. One of the first questions I get when I tell people this is “What am I supposed to do in the between time while starting my own thing”? This is a tough one, stepping out into the unknown is scary and leaving something that sounds secure and going into your own thing is intimidating, especially when you don’t know what your income is going to look like yet. So what I’ve done is put together a few side hustles that could use to help supplement your income to a point where you feel comfortable, who knows, maybe one of these will be your new beginning.
This is one that I got from Gary Vaynerchuk, one of my favorite people to follow. It’s something that is so simple and actually does work. There are so many items you can get in the dollar store and turn around and sell them on site like Ebay, Craigslist, Amazon, and so on. You don’t even need to go into a store if you don’t want to, you can but things on Ebay and turn around and sell it on Amazon, and the possibilities are endless.
Manage Social Media
This one was definitely new to me, there are tons of businesses small and big that need a social media manager and simply don’t have the time nor the expertise to be constantly posting on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat or Twitter. Take some time out of your day and contact some locals and offer your expertise, I mean we are use these on a daily basis, why not get paid for it???!!!!
Tutor on Skype
You can tutor people over Skype, no matter where you might live. This is great especially if you’re a digital novice and you’re looking to earn more money than the local job market can potentially provide. Tutor people from the U.S. or U.K. if you’re traveling through Asia or another low-cost-of-living country around the world
Make online courses
Create an online course using site like Udemy or Teachable and use some of your skills to create a great income. Depending upon how much time you invest in your course, you could make a substantial side revenue stream by creating courses that deliver tremendous amounts of value.
Okay I know, making money from a blog will not happen overnight. But, if you start one and consistently put out content that people want than you can turn it into major passive income. This is something you can easily build on the side with just a few hours of work per week.
Freelance you skills
There are tons of sites that allow you to work from home and help other people build. Sites like Fiverr, Upwork and Freelancer are just some of the few places that allow you to look at jobs that others are looking for such are Logo design, blog ghostwriting and so on. This way if you do want to work for someone at least you can do it in your Pj’s.
Look, my goal in starting my own business is to be able to create a true work life balance. Set my own schedule and no have to rely on someone else to make sure I get paid. I am not looking to become a millionaire or become some bid tycoon. I just want to be able to have the freedom to enjoy life with my loved ones and not have to hope that my job gives me that day off. There are definitely tons of other ways and if you need some more ideas than feel free to hit me up anytime. Hope this helped out a little and enjoy that new found freedom!!!!
